Changes to classes of support (registration groups) or service delivery

Registered NDIS providers may apply to vary their approved registration to do the following:

  • add or remove registration groups / service delivery;
  • vary a condition of their registration; or
  • vary the length of time their registration is in force.

The NDIS Commissioner may vary the registration of a registered NDIS provider under section 73L of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 if the Commissioner considers it appropriate in all the circumstances to do so. The Commissioner takes a range of factors into consideration when deciding on an application to vary registration.

In considering an application to add registration groups or service delivery, the Commissioner considers whether the registered NDIS provider has been assessed by an approved quality auditor as meeting the relevant NDIS Practice Standards as well as the suitability of the provider to provide the requested additional supports and services.

To apply to vary your registration, you must request the Application for Variation of Registration form by emailing variations@ndiscommission.gov.au. You will receive an auto-reply which contains the application form. Please note that the form is not accessible for use with assistive technology. We are working on fixing this issue and will replace the form with an accessible version as soon as possible.

Once you receive the form, complete it and submit it to registration@ndiscommission.gov.au. A variation application must be submitted to the NDIS Commission by the provider’s key personnel.

Additionally, if your application is to change your registration groups or service delivery, reach out to your approved quality auditor (AQA) to discuss whether an audit is required to support the variation request. If an audit is required, when you submit the Application for Variation of Registration form, note in the email that an auditor has been engaged and provide evidence of confirmed audit dates. If an audit has already been completed, your AQA will upload the audit report to the NDIS Commission Portal.

Please note that the completion of an audit is not approval for the variation. Only the NDIS Commissioner or their delegate can vary the registration of a registered NDIS provider.  The NDIS Commission will issue a notice of decision once the variation application and required audit documentation is assessed and determined.
