Explainer video: Provider Registration (Part 1)

This video focuses on Part 1 of how the registration application process will look in the NDIS Commission Portal (new). It takes you through how to do an initial check to assess your business’ suitability, including how to add key personnel.

Explainer video: Provider Registration (Part 2)

Welcome to this short tutorial explaining part 1 of the registration application process. The registration process has two parts. Part 1 is an initial check to see if your business is suitable. The second is a more detailed assessment against the NDIS Practice Standards. This video focuses on Part 1.

If you are not a registered provider, you can find the registration application link on the Commission website. That page also has guides to help you get through the login process. The system will guide you as you apply. Please read the on-screen instructions carefully at each step. The first thing you'll do is type in your Australian Business Number, or ABN. The system will look this up and instantly

find your legal business name. Next, check your business details. The system fills in your registered address for you. You can easily update your postal address if you need to.

In Step 4, you will select the NDIS supports and services you plan to provide. You also need to tell us if you currently provide services to participants. You can save your form as a draft while you are filling it in. The system will also automatically save your progress as you go to each next step. Your draft will stay in the portal for up to 30 days. You can come back to it from the applications list at any time.

At Step 5 you will answer some suitability questions about your business history. The next step allows us to assess the suitability of your key personnel. Key personnel are people in your organisation who have important decision-making roles. You'll need to add them using their NDIS Worker Screening ID or their Worker Screening Application ID if they're still going through the screening process. The system securely checks their worker screening status against the NDIS Worker Screening Database.

This is an important step. If you need a worker screening check for your key personnel, follow the instructions provided and save your form as a draft to finish later. From here, the system will send an email to each key personnel member you add. They must use the link in the email to log in and complete their own short suitability check.

You can track their completion in Step 7. Once each person finishes their checks, the status will change to Completed. You can then acknowledge the final declaration. After you submit, you will see a confirmation message. Sometimes our staff need to check your information before you can start Part 2. You will be advised in the confirmation message if you can start Part 2 right away, or if you need to wait or provide more information.

So that's how Part 1 of the application process works. You can watch the next video showing Part 2 of the process and access more detailed guides on the NDIS Commission website.

Thanks for watching.
