Digital transformation

The NDIS Commission is making changes to its digital data, systems and tools through the Data and Regulatory Transformation (DART) Program.

Data and Regulatory Transformation (DART) Program

DART will provide a set of connected systems that uses modern technology. These systems will help us to:

  • better identify participant and provider interactions
  • spot risks earlier
  • take action sooner
  • become a more engaged and efficient regulator.

DART has people with disability at its core. The system improvements will:

  • enhance safeguarding of NDIS participants
  • help us build stronger regulation of providers and workers
  • reduce regulatory burden for providers
  • improve cyber security to protect personal and sensitive data.

Information for NDIS participants

What we’ve heard

Our Consultative Forums have told us that:

  • to improve connection with NDIS participants, we need to improve accessibility
  • responding in a timely and clear manner is important. It means you can take part in our processes and understand our decisions.

This feedback is important to help inform our new systems. It will help make your experience easier if you need to report an issue about an NDIS provider or worker.

How will the DART Program benefit NDIS participants?

We’re using feedback from the people who use our services to guide improvements to our systems.

We’re improving the process for reporting an issue or complaint by:

  • providing more guidance about what we can do, how we can help or where you can get help
  • updating our online form for reporting issues. The updated form allows you to add more detail about your complaint. This will help us direct your concern to the right place.

More improvements will be available on our website throughout-2026.

You can report issues or complaints to us now, and after we make these changes, via the online form, phone, or other communication channels.

Every concern we receive is assessed and added to our systems to be used for intelligence purposes.

When we identify risks quickly and consistently, we can better protect the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.

This supports your right to choice and control when accessing quality and safe NDIS supports and services.

Information for NDIS providers

What we’ve heard

NDIS providers have told us:

  • responding in a timely and clear manner allows you to take appropriate action and understand our decisions
  • our processes have too much paperwork which takes time away from quality care and services
  • our system has inconsistent data entry fields which causes additional requests for information
  • our systems don’t make it easy for you to report information or understand your data.

This feedback is important to inform our new systems.

How will the DART Program benefit NDIS providers?

We’re using feedback from NDIS providers to guide improvements to our systems.

We’ll be releasing a new Provider Portal later in 2026. This will be for:

  • provider registration
  • behaviour support
  • practitioner suitability
  • Reportable Incidents.

The new Provider Portal will:

  • streamline your interactions with us
  • reduce administrative burden
  • provide better data insights to support your practice
  • meet your regulatory requirements.

Feedback from providers has informed the design of the new provider portal, so you can:

  • be assured we’ve assessed matters consistently, which helps us respond sooner
  • resolve concerns directly with participants when we don’t need to be involved
  • have a better experience with us when we need you to respond to a concern about your service
  • better safeguard NDIS participants from harm.
