Joint Statement on the Inappropriate Use of Psychotropic Medicines to Manage the Behaviours of People with Disability and Older People

This joint statement from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC), the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission) and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) is about the important issue of inappropriate use of psychotropic medicines among people with disability and older people, and the commitment to collaborative action to reduce it.

On 21 March 2022, the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Linda Reynolds issued a joint media release with the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Greg Hunt and the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services Richard Colbeck, regarding inappropriate use of psychotropic medicines.
