Behaviour support practitioners
A behaviour support practitioner is someone who can do behaviour support assessments and write behaviour support plans. The Commission says they are allowed to do this work.
Specialist behaviour support providers
A Specialist behaviour support provider provides behaviour support.
They help to understand a participant’s behaviour and meet their needs.
They are registered with the Commission. We also call them behaviour support providers.
Behaviour support plan
A Behaviour support plan (BSP) says how to support the participant to have a good life. It helps people understand the participant's behaviour and meet their needs.
Implementing provider
An implementing provider is an NDIS provider who uses a regulated restrictive practice.
Restrictive practice
A restrictive practice (RP) is an action that takes away a person's rights. They stop people from moving freely and doing what they want.
Interim plan
An interim plan is a short plan. It has ways to keep the participant people safe for now. It is used until a comprehensive plan is written.
Comprehensive plan
A comprehensive plan is a detailed plan that is made after learning about the person and their needs.
It tells how to:
- support the participant
- teach new skills
- keep people safe.
It helps the participant have a good life.
Consent
When a participant gives consent, they say it is okay to do something.
Declaration
A declaration means you promise the information is true.
