Privacy Notice and Agreement for Newsletter and updates
Purpose
This Privacy Collection Notice is for members of the public who subscribe to receive the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission, we or our) newsletter and our updates.
The notice explains how the NDIS Commission handles personal information in accurse with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Why is your personal information being collected?
The NDIS Commission is collecting your personal information for the purpose of subscribing to the NDIS Commission newsletter and NDIS Commission updates or alerts.
The NDIS Commission newsletter and updates contain a range of information about:
- community engagement and events
- consultations and feedback
- NDIS Commission functions, performance and improvements, and
- delivering safe and quality services to people with disability.
If you decide not to provide your personal information (i.e. your email address), we will be unable to send you the newsletter or updates by email.
What personal information is being collected?
We collect personal information, such as:
- name (mandatory)
- email address (mandatory)
- organisation, if applicable (non-mandatory)
- state (non-mandatory)
How do we collect personal information?
The NDIS Commission website allows members of the public to subscribe to the newsletter by selecting ‘newsletter and alerts'. We collect personal information when you complete the online newsletter subscription form. You can also subscribe to the NDIS Commission newsletter by:
- contacting our National Contact Centre and subscribing over the phone, or
- emailing the NDIS Commission enquiries.
If you would like to update your personal information you can resubscribe with your current email address.
Who will we disclose your personal information to?
The NDIS Commission uses Campaign Monitor (by Marigold), an Australian email marketing service to manage our mailing list. When you subscribe to our mailing list, you consent to Campaign Monitor collecting your email address on our behalf. Campaign Monitor also receives information from cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address). We recommend that you read Campaign Monitor’s privacy policy.
The NDIS Commission does not disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless authorised or required by under law to do so, or where the disclosure is authorised under the Privacy Act.
Overseas disclosure
Campaign Monitor is based in Australia; however, subscriber data may be processed or stored by customer’s vendors or service providers on servers located in the United States of America. We encourage subscribers to review the Campaign Monitor’s privacy policy and make a decision about their privacy practices.

By providing your personal information to subscribe to the provider newsletter, you consent to the NDIS Commission collecting and handling your personal information (including sensitive information) in accordance with this Privacy Collection Notice.
