Important information for NDIS providers in cyclone-affected areas

As the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred begins to impact Queensland and parts of northern New South Wales, the NDIS Commission is urging all NDIS providers to be aware of their obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct and Practice Standards, including the requirement to ensure emergency and disaster management practices are in place.

People with disability must be included in your emergency preparation and planning – please refer to the Emergency Management Provider Alert for more information.

Be aware that non-urgent hospital appointments may be postponed. Any travel to hospital or other health services should be carefully considered, noting the safety risks posed by extreme weather. Visit the website of your local health service for the latest information, including virtual care service options.

Please work together with participants, workers, other team members and the broader community to keep each other safe.

Call 000 if a participant is experiencing a critical breakdown in services that puts them at an immediate safety risk.

For your own safety, please follow the advice from your local emergency services.
