Supported independent living: Unregistered provider
Transition pathway for:
- unregistered NDIS provider
- includes sole traders
- currently delivering supported independent living (SIL)
- plans to apply for registration after 1 July 2026.

Providers can continue to deliver supported independent living (SIL) during the application for registration if they apply by 1 October 2026.
1. Awareness
Provider is aware that changes for supported independent living providers and transition arrangements apply from 1 July 2026.
2. Preparation
Provider understands their obligations, including mandatory registration and compliance with the new supported independent living Practice Standards from 1 July 2026.
Provider continues to deliver SIL supports.
3. Applies for registration
The provider submits a valid registration application for '0138 Assistance with supported independent living' and other relevant registration groups before 1 October 2026.
The provider receives a scope of audit.
4. Audit process
The provider engages an Approved Quality Auditor (AQA) and completes an audit.
The audit includes the new supported independent living Practice Standards.
5. Application review
The provider responds to NDIS Commission questions and provides information during the application review, if required.
The provider continues to deliver supported independent living.
6. Registration decision

From 1 July 2026, providers must comply with the new SIL Practice Standards to remain registered.
