Supported independent living: Registered provider

Transition pathway for:

  • current NDIS registered provider
  • has registration group '0115 Assistance with daily life tasks in a group or shared living arrangement'
  • delivering supported independent living (SIL) before 1 July 2026.

Providers can continue to deliver supported independent living (SIL) during this process.

1. Awareness

Provider is aware that changes for supported independent living providers, including a new registration group and new supported independent living Practice Standards, will take effect from 1 July 2026.

2. Preparation

Provider understands the transitional arrangements for existing registered supported independent living providers and the new supported independent living Practice Standards that take effect from 1 July 2026.

3. Registration updated

No action required from the provider. The NDIS Commission will update relevant registration certificates with a new certificate of registration that includes the registration group '0138 Assistance with supported independent living'.

4. Apply supported independent living Practice Standards

The provider continues to deliver supported independent living supports. From 1 July 2026, provider must comply with new supported independent living Practice Standards to remain registered.

5. Provider’s next audit

The provider is audited against new supported independent living Practice Standards as part of their next audit (mid-term or registration renewal) after 1 July 2026.
