You will need to know which workers need a check.

Focus on provider

You must check all workers who are in a risk-assessed role.

A risk-assessed role is a job that fits into one of these three groups:

  • people who manage or lead your business
  • people who perform jobs that require them to take extra care
  • people who provide direct support.
Support

Direct support might involve:

  • touching a person to help them
Conversation
  • getting to know a person well because it is part of your daily work
Provider
  • helping many people with disability in a specialist disability home.
Key personnel

You will need to know who your Key Personnel are. 

Key personnel are the people who manage or lead your business, like a director or CEO.

Check

Your workers will need to be screened through the NDIS worker screening database.

The NDIS worker screening database is a system that keeps safety records for NDIS workers. It checks and shows who is cleared to work safely with participants.

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

The NDIS worker screening database is also accessed through the NDIS Commission website.

 NDIS Commission Portal

You can view the screening status of your workers via the new NDIS Commission Portal.

Identification

To add workers to your organisation you will need to search for your them using: 

  • the worker's NDIS Worker Screening ID. 

An NDIS Worker Screening ID shows a person is safe to work with people with disability. 

State or territory authorities do this safety check.

ID
  • or their NDIS Worker screening application ID to check them. 

An NDIS worker screening application ID is a reference number. Workers get this number when they apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
