NDIS Commission portal (New): Checklist of what to do before 12 October

Below is information for registered providers about preparing for the new NDIS Commission portal. The guide Which portal do I use? describes what will change for everyone else.

The new NDIS Commission portal

The new NDIS Commission portal launches on 12 October 2026.

Your obligations and the NDIS Practice Standards do not change. What changes is the system you use to complete that work. For a period, you will use both the existing portal and the new NDIS Commission Portal.

Which portal you use will depend on the task and whether the work was started before or after 12 October. See Which portal do I use?

There are 3 things to do to get ready:

  1. Finish what you have underway in the existing portal before 12 October.
  2. From 12 October, start new work in the new NDIS Commission portal.
  3. Check your user list before 1 October so your team is ready to access the new portal.

The steps below explain what you need to do.

Step 1: Finish what you have underway

Work through what you have in progress in the existing portal now and complete what you can before 12 October.

Behaviour support

  • Submit any behaviour support plan you have in draft. Drafts will be removed on 12 October and cannot be recovered.
  • Continue to do you monthly reporting on plans that are already active or partially active. You will continue to do your reporting in the existing portal.

Reportable Incidents

  • If you lodged an incident before 12 October, continue to manage it in the existing portal until it is closed.

Registration

  • You will continue to access re-registration (renewal) applications in the existing portal until they are finalised. This applies to already submitted and draft applications.

Audits

  • Audits started before 12 October remain in the existing portal until they are completed.
  • Periodic audits with a scheduled start date from 12 October will be transitioned to the new portal and will no longer be managed in the existing portal.
  • Periodic audits due from 12 October that are not yet scheduled must be booked in the new portal.

Step 2: Start new work in the new portal from 12 October

From 12 October, start these in the new portal:

  • a new behaviour support plan
  • an audit that is not yet scheduled
  • a new reportable incident
  • a new re-registration (renewal) application
  • a notification of a change or event that affects your registration.

Worker screening

From 12 October, use the new NDIS Commission Portal for worker screening activities, including verification requests, linking and unlinking workers, and managing worker records.

If you started any work in the existing portal before 12 October, finish it in the existing portal.

Step 3: Check your user list before 1 October 2026

Everyone on your team with an active account in the existing portal will have an account set up in the new portal. You do not need to set them up again.

If you need to make any changes to your staff's user accounts, please submit the changes:

  • before 1 October 2026, or
  • in the new portal after 12 October 2026.

Any changes made in the existing portal after 1 October may not be reflected in the new portal when it launches.

Before 1 October 2026

  • Check your user list, update account details where needed, and deactivate accounts for people who have left or no longer need access. Only active accounts will be transferred to the new portal.
  • Ask your Access Delegate to confirm that existing staff have the level of access they need.

After 12 October 2026

  • Roles do not map one-to-one between the two portals. From 12 October, check the roles your staff have in the new portal and update them if you need to.
  • From 12 October:
    • your Registrant creates the user record for a new user
    • your Access Delegate provisions their access, assigns roles, and deactivates accounts in the new portal.
  • Make sure at least one active staff member is assigned to each role your organisation needs. Make sure at least one active staff member is assigned to each role your organisation needs. Roles include:
    • Registrant
    • Access Delegate
    • Worker Screening Officer
    • Behaviour Support Lodgement Officer
    • Restrictive Practice Reporting Officer
    • Reportable Incidents Officer.
  • User accounts are managed separately in each portal. From 12 October, if you create or deactivate a user in one portal, you must also make the same change in the other.
