Purpose
The NDIS Commission is establishing the Advisory Council and Sector Consultation Forum to ensure the voice of participants lead our decisions. The Advisory Council and Sector Consultation Forum are for people who want to share their views and are interested in assisting the NDIS Commission to make decisions related to our functions.
The purpose of this Privacy Collection Notice and Agreement is to allow the NDIS Commission to collect your personal information for involvement in the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum.
We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth) (NDIS Act), the Privacy Act 1988 and our Privacy policy and Privacy statement.
Why is your personal information being collected?
The NDIS Commission is collecting your personal information when you submit an expression of interest (EOI) to be a member of the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum.
Your personal information is used in the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum selection process.
The NDIS Commission may also seek feedback on your experience, invite you to complete surveys or attend other meetings.
What personal information is being collected?
The NDIS Commission will collect your personal information, including your:
- first and last name
- your age (you must over 18 years of age to participate)
- email and postal address, and
- any additional information you want to share about your experiences and interests.
What would happen if the NDIS Commission did not collect your personal information?
If the NDIS Commission does not collect your personal information, we will be unable to contact you to be involved in the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum.
Your participation in the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum is voluntary, and your agreement does not guarantee, nor require you to be involved.
How will the NDIS Commission use or disclose my personal information?
The NDIS Commission will use your personal information for the purpose in which it is collected and may disclose your personal information to third party service providers who assist us. We may also use or disclose personal information for another (secondary) purpose, particularly if a permitted general situation exists and/or if we are required or authorised by law.

Publication on the NDIS Commission website
As a selected member of the Advisory Council or Sector Consultation Forum your first name and initial of your surname is published on the NDIS Commission website for the duration of involvement. A member may opt out of publication prior to the commencing, or during engagement by contacting the NDIS Commission Internal Integrity Unit at: internalintegrity@ndiscommission.gov.au
Access to and correction of your personal information
You may access and seek correction of personal information we hold about you by contacting the Privacy Officer of the Internal Integrity Unit at: internalintegrity@ndiscommission.gov.au
Overseas disclosure of your personal information
The NDIS Commission does not generally disclose personal information to overseas recipients. At times, the NDIS Commission website may contain links to other third-party websites outside the NDIS Commission. The NDIS Commission encourages you to review their privacy policies to make your own decision about their privacy practices.
