Workforce capability framework

Here’s a resource to help you understand the attitudes, skills and knowledge expected of workers funded under the NDIS. This is part of the Workforce Capability Framework, which was developed to uplift capabilities in the sector. See about the framework for more information about using this resource.

You can use the interactive version, which guides you through finding the capabilities needed for a particular type of disability support job.

You can also download a full version of this resource.

Workforce Capability Framework

There's a Framework to help define 'what good looks like' when it comes to providing NDIS supports.

The NDIS Workforce Capability Framework is for anyone who needs to understand, direct or participate in NDIS work.

It was developed from an NDIS participant point of view.

It describes what participants expect from all workers funded under the NDIS.

Tools and guidance will help participants, service providers and workers put the Workforce Capability Framework into practice.

NDIS workers can use the Framework to:

  • set up good relationships with participants
  • know what their job is
  • support participant choice and control
  • be present for participants and
  • support participants to speak up.

Participants can use the Framework when they talk to their workers or service providers about their support needs, or when they give feedback.

The Framework means we're all sharing the same language when we talk about 'what good looks like' in NDIS services.
