Free Training for Disability Support workers on Positive Behaviour Support
The NDIS Commission, with support from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DHDA), is offering free Positive Behaviour Support training to 15,000 Disability Support Workers across Australia.
This training helps workers support people with disability in ways that are safe, respects their human rights, and are person-centred.
Workers from both registered and unregistered NDIS providers can take part.
This is part of the NDIS Commission’s work to support a strong and capable workforce that gives people with disability the best possible support.
What’s in the training?
- Positive Behaviour Support: Learn what Positive Behaviour Support is, why behaviour happens, and how to help with practical strategies.
- Human Rights and You: Learn what human rights are and how to protect the rights of people with disability.
- Trauma-Informed Support Films: Understand what trauma is, how it affects people, and how to support them safely.
The courses are online and self-paced. They offer a certificate of completion when completed.
The courses in the training package were created by National Disability Services (NDS) as part of their “NDS Workforce Essentials eLibrary”.
