Disability Sector Consultative Committee
About
The NDIS Commission Disability Sector Committee (the Committee) brings together key stakeholders from the disability sector to represent the interests of and encompass the different perspectives of NDIS participants and their support networks where they exist.
The Committee’s key purpose is to provide high-level evidence-based advice to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner (the Commissioner) on national issues, which influence the delivery of quality and safe NDIS supports and services.
The primary function of the Committee is to provide ongoing advice and feedback at a national level on:
- matters that impact or have the potential to impact on system level interventions;
- issues raised by other key stakeholders such as but not limited to advocates, the NDIS Independent Advisory Council and the NDIA CEO Forum;
- emerging and complex issues relevant to quality and safeguards in the NDIS market which may impact on the NDIS Commission as a regulatory authority;
- aspects of continuous improvement and the NDIS Commission’s operation as a regulator of quality and safe supports and services.
How it works
The Committee commenced on 19 November 2019 for a three-year term. The Committee will meet three times per year or more frequently if required, and will report to the Chair.
The meeting dates for 2022 include:
- Tuesday, 22 March
- Tuesday, 2 August
- Tuesday, 15 November

Current membership
Members bring a range of skills and experience to the Committee as well as a broad understanding of human rights and disability related issues consistent with the intention and provision of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.

The NDIS Commission Industry Consultative Committee (the Committee) brings together key provider stakeholders from the disability sector to represent the interests of and encompass the different perspectives of the ability of NDIS providers to deliver quality and safe supports and services in a regulated NDIS market.
The Committee’s key purpose is to provide high-level evidence-based advice to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner (the Commissioner) on national issues, which influence the delivery of quality and safe NDIS supports and services.
The primary function of the Committee is to provide ongoing advice and feedback at a national level on:
- matters that impact or have the potential to impact on system level interventions;
- emerging issues and risks, service delivery trends, quality issues and other important factors that will help shape the NDIS market over time;
- emerging and complex issues relevant to quality and safeguards in the NDIS market which may impact on the NDIS Commission as a regulatory authority;
- aspects of continuous improvement and the NDIS Commission’s operation as a regulator of quality and safe supports and services.
